2 December 2023 – Kyu Grading at Cambridge Karate Dojo / Cambridge University Karate Club
The record keeps breaking – a total of 78 students trained and 56 students passed their kyu grading with Sensei Roy Tomlin MBE at Cambridge Karate Dojo, including 4 double grades. Well done to all!
26 November 2023 – Cambridge University Karate Club Intra-Club Competition
Over 20 students from Cambridge University Karate Club took part in the 2023 CUKC Club Competition. Competitors ranged from white to black belt. Well done to you all!

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Omura Sensei, 8th Dan and Chief Instructor of JKA Thailand. Our thoughts are with Sensei’s family and our friends at JKA Thailand.
October 2023 – A New Club in JSKE Family
We are very pleased to announce that Cambridge University Karate Club have joined the JSKE, with Sensei Ken Hori as their new Chief Instructor. A very warm welcome!
27-29 October 2023 – JKA Munich Gasshuku with Sensei Naka
16 members of the JSKE family attended the 3 day training camp in Munich, instructed by the incredible Sensei Tatsuya Naka (7th Dan, Honbu Dojo). We were mind-blown by the insight and knowledge taught by sensei!
7 October 2023 – Kyu Grading at Tanren SKC
38 students passed their grading at Tanren SKC with Sensei Ken Hori. Well done all, really good effort!
26 August 2023 – Matthew Last Memorial Seminar at Cambridge Karate Dojo
To celebrate the life of Matthew Last, who was a member of both JSKE (Cambridge Karate Dojo) and HDKI, a seminar and a dinner was held in Cambridge attended by over 70 friends of Matthew. This included people from Ireland, France, Holland and Sweden, as well as many more on Zoom. There were two sessions: the first being taught by Scott Langley sensei, 7th Dan HDKI, and the second by Ken Hori sensei. A total of £1,404 was raised, which has been donated to FairFight, a charity that Matthew supported generously, and Arthur Rank Hospice, who looked after Matthew and his family in his last days. Tanren SKC raised further Euro 200 from their activities. Matthew would have been so proud of this day.
18-20 August 2023 – JKA WF Scotland International Summer Camp
14 members of JSKE attended the 3 day training couse in Paisley, Scotland, instructed by Sensei Kawasoe and Sensei Naito (8th Dan, JKA Italy). We did so many kicks! There were five Dan grading successes – a huge congratulations to all!

Over 130 karatekas from across the country joined a fantastic day of training with Sensei Masao Kawasoe, the Chief Instructor of JKA WF England, Sensei Roy Tomlin MBE and Sensei Ken Hori at University of Hertfordshire Sports Village. 13 March 2023 – JSKE Central Region Competition
A total of 52 students from Cambridge Karate Dojo and Zanshin North Herts SKA competed in the first JSKE Central Region Competition. An amazing effort from all those who competed, including junior and lower grade competitors! A big thank you to the referees and first aiders: Sensei Mick, Soren, Jon, Julian, Chris, Malcolm and Bill.

Tanren SKC raises money for charity!
Tanren SKC raised an incredible £1,000 for Lewisham Foodbank, and another £1,000 for City Harvest who run a Christmas meal and homeless shelter programme over the holidays. Well done all, what an amazing effort!

4-6 November 2022 – JKA Malta International Gasshuku 2022
A total of 14 members of JSKE (9 from Lewisham, 2 from Cambridge and 3 from Zanshin) joined Sensei Roy and Sensei Ken, who were invited to teach at the gasshuku, at the 2022 JKA Malta International Gasshuku. We spent three days training hard, having great fun together and making new friends. A huge thank you to Sensei Dario Chircop (5th Dan, Chief Instructor of JKA Malta) and other members of JKA Malta for their absolutely amazing hospitality!
